Preview/Recap

 PREVIEW

Our first match up of the day should be a good test for both teams. Wildflowers who open up the season 1-2 with facing the defending Champions and Marty's in 2 of their first 3 starts, never an easy task to do. Snipers on the other hand after the results seemed to have a much easier schedule. We will see which team it has helped. Wildflowers coming in prepared and already tested or Snipers a new team seeming to have alot of potential yet to be tested. Can the passion and fire lead by John Dolci and the uprising of John Kuncker to go along with Sandy Heller and Nick Creo get to 500 or will the Snipers with the big starts by the Grivnovics and Billy Yocum and continue to roll on move to 4-0?

GAME RECAP
Snipers seemed focus and jumped on Wildflowers at the 10:56 mark in the 1st period. Scoring 3 goals in a span of approx 2:30 and never looked back. The combination of the Yocumvics or Grivnocum depending which guys you ask, had 8 points and even the commish Matt Cento got 3 assists in the game seemed to be playing well. Late goals by Sandy Heller and Nick Creo in the 3rd period for Wildflowers, but in the end Snipers go on and improve to 4-0 and Wildflowers looking to rebound for next week.
*
Side Note after game 2 Wildflowers loss one of their top tough defenseman in John Campbell for the season and possible for good, only time will tell. Though John has a reputation for being a overzealous physical player with a nasty streak, John had developed into a solid defenseman along with Keith Scazzaro looked like that pair was going to be key for Wildflowers. John has had a history of back issues and  we wish him the best and I know he will be missed by his teammates on the court and us here in the league.

PREVIEW

This is will be a good match up for both teams. Papp’s coming in 1-2, after a quick jump start against the new squad of Enterprise in Week 1, they faced Stonecutters and Snipers and ended up in the loss column in both games, giving up more goals then they had expected.  KatManDu coming into this game 0-3 with also a tough schedule have to facing both Marty’s and Savoy’s in 2 of the 3 games and last week not only facing Marty’s but had a bench of 2 guys, not what you want to do against that team. Papp's and KatManDu both teams with outstanding young goalies. Jim Garbe, who has been here for a few seasons and Ryan Rautanen, a rookie to our league looking to make a name for himself. Despite the score played outstanding according to team-mates and Marty’s players. Ryan might not have felt good like any goalie giving up 9 goals but the amount of shots faced was overwhelming and Marty’s is a powerhouse when it comes to scoring. Both teams needing a win, which team will rise to the occasion?

GAME RECAP

There was one Matt in this game that was not welcomed by KatManDu. Kat took a 2-1 lead by a goal from Mark Mattaliano at 12:13 of the 2nd period, but Papp's scored 6 unanswer goals to go onto to win the game 8-2. Matt Luber was involved in 6 of the 8 goals with a Hat Trick and 3 assists with a amazing 6 point day.

Preview/Recap

PREVIEW

The Stonecutters and Enterprise, two teams on opposite paths for the season. Stonecutters, a team that has once been down the same rigorous path as Enterprise is going through. A team that built up through the years, changing players, had new looks but stuck to the roots of what their goal is. You can’t run before you walk and Stonecutters had blossomed into a top contending team with multiple final appearances and a championship ring. They continue to improve and make changes and this season is no different. Picking up key players in Chris Blessing, James Mort, Rob Pietropaula and John Palentine these players could be keys to the Stonecutters run at another final. Enterprise on the beginning end of this looking to see what players they have what they need and how they will need to survive each week. But the thing is the more you learn the better you get and the strength will be how much can you keep coming back and getting better. Stonecutters have spread their scoring out this year and that should help them they are already have scored 13 goals in 2 games and looking to win their 3rd in a row. Enterprise’s Danny Virgal scored their 1st goal last week so hopefully getting off that schnide will help. Enterprise trying to find their 1st win with another tough obstacle to get past.

GAME RECAP

The Stonecutters starting to get on a roll after they dropped the 1st game to Savoy's they have scored the 2nd most goals with 24 and won their 3rd straight game.  Newcomer to the league and a good pick up for Stonecutters  Johnny Palentine had a Hat Trick and 2 assists for 5 points helping his team and Rich Wood get a 10-0 shutout.

Preview/Recap

PREVIEW

This should be an interesting game to watch. Ram Law who has played what people might call a lighter schedule compared to Killarney's, getting wins against Enterprise and KatManDu, but getting a bad performance when losing to Marty's Place. Killarney's is yet to get a win after playing the Snipers, Wildflowers and Stonecutters. Ram Law has been known to be inconsistent may overlook Killareny's and get bit. Killarney's on the other hand seem to have more jump in their step and despite the record may be more improved. This will be a good game for both teams a win for Ram Law brings them to a 3-1 record heading in the right direction. A loss for Killarney's brings them 0-4 and have to figure out how to stop this slump. With a win for Killarney's Ram Law becomes 2-2 and into the middle of the pack Killarney's 1-3 will start to look ahead in a positive direction. Stick around for this match up.

GAME RECAP

This game might have been exactly what was predicted. Some people may call this an upset others will not. Brian Dawson gave Killarney's the first edge at 10:40 of the 1st period. As the period winds down Joe Palumbo tied the game at 4:07 of the 1st period. That is where the game stood with each team getting opportunities but both goalies keeping their team alive. That is until 2:23 of the 3rd period where Brian Beatty gave Killarneys the lead and the eventual win.

Preview/Recap

 PREVIEW

This will be the game of the day. Even as early in the season we will have a re-match of the 2 finalists. These 2 teams play as hard as 2 teams play one another and in a short time has become a rivarly. I think it is natural when you have the 2 best teams and one has proved their spot and the other seems to fall just a bit short they seeming to be hungry to get there. We can mention all the key players in this game but each team having 5-6 top players but here is the thing they can cancel each other out. We saw in the final the Scott Bertoli made the difference for Savoy's with a game winning overtime goal. When you think Savoy's can't get better such as when they improved the defense picking up Brian Dey and Offense with Scott Bertoli this year they picked up some size and a great player in Chris Caplin. A guy that is a veteran to the ball hockey world and brings championship experience to a team that is loaded with that now. He can be another difference maker. Marty's will have to contend with him now. They have alot of talent on their team and with the loss in the last 2 finals they will have some motive to play better. Marty's has got to use their speed and there aggressive forechecking to keep pressure in the Savoy's end. This is when Marty's is at its best. Either way this is a great game to watch.

GAME RECAP

This game was nothing less then old fashion hard played game. Savoy's took the early advantage on a power play goal by Sharp Shooter Craig Hartman at 8:41 of the 1st period. Veteran Harry Meeks Sr. helping his team early in the season tied the game just :56 into the 2nd period. But in the end the resilience of Savoy's scored just :20 in the 3rd period by the big new guy Chris Caplin and his goal ended up being the difference giving Marty's their 1st loss of the season.

*On a side note veteran player and longtime member of Marty's and the league Corey Tulband injured his knee late in the 2nd period he left the game. He will be ok, but playing this year short of a miracle will be not happening. We wish him a speedy recovery  and strong comeback.
